StorePinger plugin privacy notice
What the free StorePinger plugin collects, and what it never does.
Summary
The free StorePinger plugin (“StorePinger – Live Visitors & Ecommerce Analytics”, including the version on WordPress.org) shows site owners how many people are on their website right now, their countries, and today’s visits. It is built to be private by design.
What the plugin collects
- A count of visits and page views.
- The visitor’s country.
- A random visitor ID kept in the visitor’s browser storage, so a returning visit is not counted twice. It is not a cookie and contains no personal information.
What it does not collect
- No cookies.
- No IP addresses are stored. The IP address is used only for a moment to find the country.
- No names, email addresses, pages, referrers or device fingerprints.
- Nothing is sent to StorePinger. All data stays in the website’s own WordPress database.
How long data is kept
Visits are deleted automatically after 48 hours. Deleting the plugin removes all of its data.
External services
If the site owner clicks “Download country database”, the plugin downloads the free DB-IP Lite country database once from db-ip.com and stores it on the website. Country lookups then happen on the website itself. No visitor data is sent to DB-IP.
For site owners
The plugin adds suggested text to WordPress → Settings → Privacy that you can use in your own privacy policy.
